The UK Route 66 Association has arrived!

The UK Route 66 Association has arrived!

I’m very proud to announce that the UK Route 66 Association has arrived!

The UK can now join the many countries worldwide that already have their very own Route 66 Association. The aim of this association is to help and support would-be travellers on their road trip adventure.

Why have a UK Route 66 Association?

There are numerous online and paper-based resources out there providing a wealth of information and guidance on planning a Route 66 road trip (including our very own sister-site, Driving Route 66), so where does the UK Route 66 Association fit in? What extra value does it bring to the table?

The answer is simple:

“The UK Route 66 Association has been created to help promote Route 66 and provide a space for UK roadies to chat about their experiences, seek advice or support, and gather information specific to UK-based travellers.”

The key phrase here is “information specific to UK-based travellers“. The Association aims to differentiate itself by providing good quality advice and information aimed squarely at UK roadies. For example: information on flights, currency, guided tours, driving habits, etc…

That’s not to say that the website won’t be providing information of use to travellers from around the world, just that, where appropriate, there will be a focus on the requirements of UK-based fans of Route 66.

What happens next?

The exciting answer to that question is that I don’t fully know!

What I DO know however is that I intend to put as much time into this project as I can possibly afford. By collaborating with others, I hope to add more and more valuable content and resources to the site.

However, what I don’t plan on doing is duplicating quality content. When appropriate the site will act as a signpost to quality information / resources from all around the web.

What does “association” mean?

In the case of the UK Route 66 Association it refers to the community of users that will drive the project forward. The development and growth of the association will be an organic process shaped by the needs of it’s members, visitors and collaborators.

Membership of the UK Route 66 Association is free and entitles all members to:

I’m incredibly excited by this new venture and hopefully, together, we can create something very special for Route 66 fans in the UK and around the world.

See you on the Facebook page!

Steve 🙂
